The mind is a servant
The mind alone cannot be trusted. It goes around in endless circles of questions and answers, a positionality of knowing and not knowing. The mind alone is useless and destructive. It is only when the mind becomes a servant of the Spirit that it is of any use. The mind can only the power of the Spirit, it doesn’t have power in and of itself. The mind alone cannot come up with constructive and creative ideas, it is only by the Spirit’s inspiration that it can manifest life-supporting things. It is very well to develop the mind, but it is of no use alone, and it must become a benevolent servant.
It is because of the mind’s innocence that both destruction and construction can go through it, without filter. Both Truth and falsehood can be served by the mind, without it being tamed. The mind doesn’t have an intention, and it can’t discern meaning, so it is an endless phantasmagoria without the guidance of a Higher Power. Nothing that the mind says is of any meaning, without the meaning given to it by the Spirit.
The mind is a two-edged sword. So do not pursue its might for its own sake. It is not worth developing the mind without it already being given a direction of service of life. In fact, the Spirit has the power to inspire and develop the mind if we align with it. As the Bible says: “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” – Matt 6:33
