Do what makes you happy, and the skills will come!
Following what works is viable and usually leads to great results. But not always. Because there is a detachment between input and output. A good decision probably means a good outcome, but not for sure; there are always factors you couldn’t have known about, an infinite number of them! At the same time, good results might not be the only thing we want to strive for. We might not even want to live in a state of constant battle, enjoying the process can be an end in itself.
And,
We all have the capability to make some things generally work, and nothing more is required. We can learn skills, processes, make use of our knowledge and do our best. On the other hand, saying “I won’t do that, because I can’t” is easy, but leads to a hard life. The way we learned the skills we have now, we can also set the mind to serve us where it brings joy.
As we realize we have the capacity to improve in some areas, we increasingly have the willingness to face the challenges of what’s required to make what makes us happy, work. And then, the question is no more whether we “can,” only, whether we will or w we won’t.
Therefore,
“Do what makes you happy” is indeed good advice, it leads to a life that brings fulfillment, rather than just results you want to get. Do what makes you happy, and the rest will take care of itself.
