The mind is like a spider web

For those who want to be free from the mind's endless phantasmagoria, this might be important.

The human mind is like a spider web. The more we try to untangle it, the more we are trying to escape it, the more entangled we get. It is full of sticky hooks, and involvement only makes us subject to them. The emotional juice, instead of serving with fulfillment, only craves for more emotional juice. The way, then, as the mind itself would suggest, is not in giving in, and trying to "solve" it, but the opposite.

To be free from the mind, we need to quit trying to be free from it. Trying is the bait on the hooks. We simply need to let go of being involved with it, and just witness it doing its thing. It is not negative, just useless by itself, in providing constructive solutions. The mind's efforts do not last, even if they bring favorable outcomes, they are only temporal.

Any involvement with the mind leads nowhere. Hating it, being attracted to it, trying to be rid of it, trying to own it are all hooks that only get us if we so intend. The very simple way to deal with it, as countless teachers in history have taught, is not to deal with it. The subjective problem itself is not in the mind, therefore the solution isn't either. We have to locate in our Self the sovereign "I" that needs not rely on the mind and is not subject to it.

This is, of course, not easy at all, otherwise, everyone would be liberated. But it is simple and doesn't require effort.
